- select metal stock for job requirements
- heat metal in forges and furnaces and hammer, punch and cut metal using hand tools and machine presses
- temper and harden finished articles by quenching in oil or water baths or by cooling gradually in air
- prepare electrolytic and silver solutions for electroforming, and apply solution to the objects to be coated
- cut, trim, shape and smooth stock to create mould patterns
- fill boxes with sand and setting patterns in place, and pour molten metal into moulds
- apply refractory paint and position cores in moulds
- finish metal and articles by polishing and buffing and applying chemical finishes
